THE HOTEL: The Hotel Carla is a small boutique hotel in the center of Levanto, which is a family seaside resort popular with Italians and ideal to reach the Cinque Terre.

THE OWNER: Saverio's family has run this hotel for over half a century.

THE ROOMS: The hotel was recently refurbished and has 33 fresh contemporary rooms some of which have private balconies and can sleep 2-4 people.

THE FOOD: The restaurant menu features Ligurian specialties and half board packages can be booked.

LOCATION: Levanto is 90km east of the port city of Genoa. The hotel is in easy reach of the railway station and the beach.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO: The sandy beach is a few minutes' walks away. There is some excellent hiking in this part of Liguria. The old seafront railway track has been turned into a beautiful walkway. Hire bicycles and ride to Framura, here you can take a taxi boat to a rocky cove and play at Robinson Crusoe for the afternoon. In Autumn Levanto becomes popular among surfers that come from any side of the world to enjoy the big waves.

GOOD TO KNOW: This is an excellent base from which to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Cinque Terre villages that are just 20 minutes away by train.
