THE HOTEL: Hotel degli Orafi  is hosted in a former Augustinian convent. You will feel like a star of the big screen staying here as Academy award-winning A Room with a View was filmed in this place. This gorgeous building has a medieval tower and some stunning 12th-century frescoes. You can't but help falls in love with Florence once you arrive.

THE OWNER: Rossella is the manager of the hotel and runs it with passion and enthusiasm. She is supported by a staff of young smiling, professional, and attentive people ready to help guests with whatever they may need.

THE ROOMS: The hotel has 42 elegant, comfortable rooms divided into Classic, Executive, Junior Suites and Suites. They are spacious and elegant, finely finished in period furniture, some with exposed wooden beams, moquette or parquet floor, traditional furnishings and fabrics and marble bathrooms with large showers or baths. The new wing, the "Orafi Tower", in the recently restored part of the ancient tower, hosts the suites, which are elegantly furnished in a more modern style. They are particularly suitable for longer stays or for families who will appreciate more space. All floors are served by lifts and the hotel has also been adapted for disabled use. All the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, minibar, satellite TV, Sky TV, safe and have Wi-Fi internet access.

THE FOOD: The breakfast buffet is large and varied and is served in a beautiful vaulted former ballroom, which is decorated with 19th-century frescoes and overlooks the Arno. There are excellent restaurants in the area serving traditional Tuscan cuisine. One of the best trattoria Toscana is just around the corner.

THE ICING ON THE CAKE: From the dreamy romantic top floor terrace there is a picture postcard view across the city of the Arno, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Ponte Vecchio, and Brunelleschi's famous dome on the city's cathedral. The terrace is alongside the American bar, which is a lovely spot for an evening drink. Guests are welcomed at the bar with a complimentary drink on arrival.

LOCATION: On the banks of the River Arno, in a quiet street, the hotel is in the very center of Florence. You can walk to all the attractions.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO: From the Hotel degli Orafi it is moments to the Piazza della Signoria with its impressive Loggia dei Lanzi, an open-air museum, and the Palazzo Comunale, the Duomo, the Campanile di Giotto, and the Baptistry. The Museo del Bargello, the Galleria degli Uffizi, the Palazzo Pitti, and the Boboli Gardens are all close by. To see Florence from above go to Piazzale Michelangelo or the small square in front of the beautiful Chiesa di San Miniato al Monte. You can also take cookery classes, go wine tasting, fly in a hot air balloon, or take a trip to the Tuscan countryside.
