Il Vigneto Resort is a boutique hotel with a pool and a spa in the countryside near Porto Palo, on the western coast of Sicily. Close to the village of Menfi, it is halfway between Trapani and Agrigento and just 1 km from some beautiful beaches. This is the ideal relais for a family beach holiday!

THE HOTEL: Il Vigneto Resort is a boutique hotel located between Trapani and Agrigento in Sicily. You are in the heart of the Sicilian countryside. It offers the best that the island has to offer. They just open a new pool and a spa with a steam bath and jacuzzi. Guests can relax in the garden or in the comfy beamed sitting room.
THE OWNER: Marco Bursi opened a restaurant here back in 1983. When he retired he passed it on to his sons Francesco and Alessandro. They added the guesthouse in 2009. Alessandro is the head chef; Francesco leads the front of house team.
THE ROOMS: There are 17 rooms including one suite with a private double jacuzzi and two junior suites, with a living area which has a sofa-bed and can host up to 4 people. All overlook the garden and have their own balconies. There are also 2 rooms equipped to be accessible for disabled guests.
THE FOOD: Il Vigneto Resort's excellent restaurant is recommended by both the Michelin guide and Gambero Rosso. This is one of the best places in the area to try local dishes and fish fresh from the sea.
THE ICING ON THE CAKE: Take to the sky on a hang-glider and see Sicily from the air.
LOCATION: You are just outside the village of Menfi, midway between Trapani and Agrigento. The hotel is close to some magnificent 'blue flags' beaches. The closest is accessible by bike but a car is needed to explore the area.
WHAT TO SEE AND DO: The stunning Valle dei Templi in Agrigento is perfect for a day trip and is about an hour by car. Sciacca is 20 km away and you can see turtles nesting in the Belice and Torre Salsa nature reserves. Be sure to visit the ancient sites of Selinunte and Segesta.
