THE HOTEL: The Masseria Torre Coccaro is a 5-star hotel housed in a beautiful former farm surrounded by a park of olive groves and vineyards. More than just a boutique hotel, this place is a luxury resort with a private beach club, a lounge bar, 2 delicious restaurants, a heated swimming pool, a gym and a Spa with indoor pool, jacuzzi, and Turkish bath. They offer also a mini club (during the day and in the evening); a playground area and waterslides for children. Guests of all ages will find many activities and events to enjoy.
THE OWNER: Torre Coccaro belongs to a local family and the estate is managed by the 4 brothers assisted by their professional and friendly staff. Being themselves art collectors, they like to deliver a superior sense of beauty in their chic retreat.
THE ROOMS: There are different types of rooms from 30 sqm (superior double) until 80 sqm (suite with private pool). They are all furnished accordingly to the traditional rustic Apulian style and most have independent access from the garden. Junior suites and suites can accommodate families up to 4-5 people. For romantic couples, the best option is the 'suite in the tower' (60 sqm) which has vaulted ceilings, a spacious living room with a fireplace, and a balcony with a private jacuzzi and sea-view. Families may prefer the 'Orange Garden suite' (80 sqm), set into the bedrock. It has a private garden with a pool; a large lounge room with vaulted ceilings and a fireplace; a separate bedroom with sea-view and a large terrace covered by a pergola, where Barilla advertising was shot.
THE FOOD: Start the day breakfasting in the garden on a savory and sweet buffet of local cheese, ham, and cakes baked in the farmhouse kitchen. In winter, dine under the vault of the ancient stable or in summer under the pergola with pool-view or at the beach-restaurant with a sophisticated a la carte menu and a wide choice of traditional recipes. Here 'fresh and local' is taken very seriously and all the products come from local top-quality suppliers. If you love fish, this is the right place where you can have your eureka moment!
Of course, you can taste the cuisine and the cocktails from the bar directly on your sun-bed at the beach.
THE ICING ON THE CAKE: Their Aveda Spa, cut into the rocks, offers an 'Olive Therapy treatment' which uses the farm's products. This is a real pleasure not to be missed! Yoga classes and Ayurvedic-Shiatsu massages are also available.
LOCATION: The Resort Torre Coccaro is located in the magic countryside near Fasano and the beach, a few kilometers from the coastal village of Savelletri. This land was once a feudal estate and retains its original features with small bricks walls and hundreds of deeply rooted olive trees. Brindisi Airport is only 40 minutes away while Lecce is over an hour's drive away.
WHAT TO SEE AND DO: This fabulous area is popular among Italians for the summer holidays and is pleasant to visit at any time. It's the perfect place to relax, enjoy the beach and discover the villages scattered around the Valle d'Itria (Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca) and visit the spectacular Castellana Caves. Torre Coccaro has a private beach club (3km away) accessible by bike or shuttle. Walking, cycling and horse-riding are great activities to discover the stunning countryside with lots of olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees. Boat tours along the coast between Monopoli and Polignano a Mare are the best way to discover the beautiful sea caves and take a dip. Do not miss one of their cooking classes and learn how to prepare fresh local pasta 'orecchiette' (little ears). Enjoy cheese, olive oil, and wine tasting in the local farms nearby.
In addition, every week during the summer there are many events like the village feast in the 'piazza' with food stands and live folk music; street food festivals; pizza nights with circus shows; grill & jazz nights; sunset aperitifs with live music; cinema nights under the stars.
GOOD TO KNOW: There are so many classes and activities to enjoy, so plan to stay a good week or more!
