The Villa is an ancient stone house on two floors, surrounded by a garden with fruit trees and a beautiful pool. It follows the tried-and-tested architecture of Sicilian farmhouses, with terracotta-tile roofs atop thick exterior walls designed to keep the inside blissfully cool. The interiors are filled with modern-touch rustic style.
THE VILLA The ground floor is dominated by an open space with beautiful high vaulted ceilings where find the place a fully-fitted kitchen and a living area, furnished with minimalist sophistication. Besides the common area, there are 3 stylish bedrooms with en-suite: a double with four-poster bed and two quadruple rooms (one with a double bed on a mezzanine and one with a double sofa bed). Moving to the first floor is another living room with comfy couches around the fireplace, a further kitchen, and 3 splendid bedrooms with en-suite. The view from the upper terrace over the incomparable rural countryside is a mix of mystical and magical.
LOCATION: The Villa is located in South-Eastern Sicily, 15 km from Ragusa, and 19km away from the nearest sandy beach. Catania airport is at 109km while smaller Comiso Airport is at only 36km - try if you are lucky to find a flight there.
WHAT TO SEE AND DO: The villa is completely immersed in the wonderful countryside of eastern Sicily. This is the area where the popular Inspector Montalbano TV series was shot: from Ragusa Ibla to Modica, Noto to Ortigia, and Syracuse. It's a short drive from the fishing villages of Punta Secca, Donnalucata (23km), Marzamemi (65km), and the golden beaches. The natural reserve at Vendicari offers beautiful walks and bird-watching, including pinkish flamingos before their migration to the African shores. V.I.P. Taormina and Mount Etna are at almost 2hours.
GOOD TO KNOW: You must definitely rent a car to explore the area and the villa has private parking.
Guests will have exclusive access to the entire villa, the garden, and the pool area. The stone patio and the front door will instead be shared with discreet Mr. Mario, the custodian.
